A perception of recognition that is, at first glance, a classic one – frontal, centred, anonymised. Not ‘I’, not ‘you’. What remains when the face becomes blurred, refuses to meet the gaze, is unreadable, and the observer’s attempt to grasp it comes to nothing? A presence emerges that cannot be accessed. Identity is not offered, but deliberately kept ambiguous. A moment of withdrawal: visible, yet not identifiable.
